Do I need heat-treated pallets to ship overseas?
Many countries require ISPM 15 heat-treated wood packaging. Elite Pallet Co in Mayfield, KY heat treats pallets, crates, and dunnage and stamps them HT, so they meet ISPM 15 and carry the HT stamp, certified IPPC.
What heat treating is
For anyone shipping product out of the country, or to a customer who requires the HT stamp. Heat treating is a process where the wood is heated to a set temperature for a set time to kill pests. This lets the pallet, crate, or dunnage cross borders without carrying insects that could spread to a new country.
ISPM 15 and the HT stamp
ISPM 15 is the international standard for wood packaging. When a pallet meets it, it carries the HT stamp, also called the bug stamp. For the shipper, the stamp shows the wood packaging meets ISPM 15. Countries that require ISPM 15 look for this stamp at the border. It is certified IPPC.
